Credit union seeks food donations and tax-deductible donations to address food insecurity
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C., July 24, 2024—Allegacy Federal Credit Union concludes its annual summer food drive this week to support Second Harvest Food Bank of NWNC. The credit union supports the nonprofit each year to address one of North Carolina’s biggest challenges in many communities, food insecurity.
“In the spirit of ‘people helping people,’ we are encouraging residents to get involved with our credit union’s annual food drive,” says Allegacy’s Community and Financial Wellbeing Manager Lori Timm. “Actively addressing food insecurity is one of Allegacy’s philanthropic priorities, as it directly impacts community health and wellbeing.”
There are several ways North Carolina residents can get involved:
1. Drop off food donations in the collection boxes, located inside our participating Allegacy Financial Centers, around Westbrook HQ and at transform GSO locations at 111 Bain Street and 111 Lewis Street in Greensboro, NC now through Friday, July 26.
2. Alternatively, make a tax-deductible, financial contribution to Allegacy’s Virtual Food Drive in support of Second Harvest Food Bank.
3. Volunteer with a team, family, or friends. Second Harvest Food Bank has many volunteer opportunities, from food sorting to gardening – posted on their website.
Allegacy’s Financial Centers participating in the Summer Food Drive include Westbrook, Clemmons, Bermuda Run, Mocksville, Peace Haven, Stafford Village, Yadkinville, King, North Patterson, Kernersville, Battleground, Spartan Village, and Palladium. Food donations can also be dropped off at transform GSO, 111 West Lewis St. or 111 Bain St, Greensboro, NC 27406.
